I had a full book. Money coming in every day.
And still… I felt broke.
I remember standing at the grocery store checkout — doing the math in my head. Not what I could afford. What I could put on a credit card and deal with later.
I kept telling myself I'd catch up next month. But next month never came. Because there was no system. No plan. No clarity. Just movement — booked solid, busy, exhausted, still behind.
So I did what most of us do. I worked harder. Took more clients. Stayed later. Said yes to everything. But more income without structure just creates more chaos — not a paycheck.
I've spent three decades behind the chair. For over 20 years, I've traveled the country as a Redken Artist and educator — teaching advanced color, correction, and technique to thousands of stylists.
And what I saw, over and over, was the same pattern. Hustling hard. Booked solid. And still broke. Because we know how to work hard. What no one teaches us is what to do with the money once it's in our hands.
Everything changed when I stopped asking,
“How do I make more?”
And started asking,
“What is actually happening with the money I already have?”
That’s when I built systems. Not complicated ones — clear ones.
A weekly paycheck. A way to separate business from personal. A way to finally see my money and what it could do for me. For the first time, I felt stable — and I saw a path to a future.
